about

This free digital download is part of the Alabama Hardcore & Punk Archival Project launched by Best of Times Records. It was originally released by the band in 1998.

Here is a biography of the band provided by vocalist Vince Slatton:

"The band had its first practice in 1997 at Unity on 3rd avenue North.
The original line-up was Jason Wasserman on vocals, Keith O'Neal on guitar, Dan Chatham on drums and Vince Slatton on bass.
Eventual changes- John Burkhart on bass, Vince Slatton on vocals.

The driving idea was to create a hardcore sound with lyrics that embodied a spirit of unity. Most of the format of the songs was short and fast with something to scream about. Jason sang in Caption at the same time ACT was birthed and I ended up singing after the band became more than a side project. John B. was asked to play bass at that time. We recorded an 8 song demo with Frank Heath the next year. Later we recorded a 7 inch in a studio on the east side of Birmingham. Jason W. sings the breakdown on Look Beyond. And Bob from Drained gave vocal support on the opposite side of the record. The backing vocals were recorded at Monks Record store in Montevallo. We ended up on a Beer City Records compilation. We were the only non-gutter/street punk band on the comp. We had interest from a few labels, but in the end, those deals never came to fruition. We ended up doing a couple of tours and driving each other crazy.

It is very hard to sum up years of work in a few paragraphs. I will always look at this time of my life as a direct shaping of who I am. I love the guys that I shared these precious moments with. I let my daughters listen to the 7 inch and they thought my vocals were horrible. She thought Jason did a much better job!"

Vince and Keith also later played together in Thirty Pieces of Silver. O'Neal and Wasserman also played in None But Burning. Jon Burkhart later played in Alan Ogg.
